Vietnamese siege tactics and Viet Cong directives reported
Allied intelligence cites seventeen Viet Cong and North Vietnamese battalions aiming to harass Saigon and suburbs. Four days of shelling have caused heavy casualties as fighting surrounds the capital on four sides. A captured directive warns against relying on diplomacy and urges tougher military action to secure victory. The capital’s defense divides into six districts with battalions assigned, though none operate inside the city. Vietnam intel notes around Saigon are imprecise, with many units weakened since February lunar offensive. The excerpt ends noting the Nautilus submarine launch in 1934.
