Cousy Linked With Mafia and 1960s Boston Athletics Ties
Former Celtics star Bob Cousy and two other ex Boston athletes were named by mobster Barboza before a House committee as having ties to the New England Mafia. Barboza alleged visits to a Boston club with Babe Parilli and Gene Conley in 1964 65 and claimed connections to horse racing interests from Scarborough Downs to Berkshire Downs. He also described drugging and fixing races at Suffolk Downs and noted Sinatra’s involvement with offshore ownership points.
