Conrad Proposes New Tax Plan To Reduce Property Burden
Indiana Secretary of State Larry Conrad, seeking the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, unveiled a plan to shift taxes onto income and other bases to cut property taxes by about half. The program includes graduated income taxes, statewide real estate assessment reform, higher land taxes, new taxes on precious metals and art, and cigarette tax hikes, financed by a $500 million annual increase.
