Police Held Man In Assault Case On West Side

Police say they are holding a man in an assault case after an intruder entered a West Side home and the victim reported hearing a scream. The suspect, Daniel Stanley, 56, was arrested on the scene and later connected to the shooting at Ellis Market, where bullets were fired through a window in an attempt to strike Ronald Smith. Detectives said Smith had argued with Stanley previously and that Stanley confronted him again at the store before leaving and returning with a pistol. The case led to additional charges as investigators tied the incident to a broader sequence of violence and a separate highway bid process in Madison County.
