A preventive maintenance program cut equipment failures by over 50 percent and reduced missed trips. In other business, the board approved a $23,459 change order for the city's wastewater treatment plan, bringing total project cost to about $7.85 million, funded 75 percent by federal, 10 percent by state, and 15 percent by local funds.

Snow removal woes in three townships linger in county
William Durr says residents for 35 years have faced chronic snow clearing problems across three townships. He blames equipment shortages and poor communication, noting farmers helped keep roads passable during a blizzard. Puckett cites sparse population, heavier snowfall north of Indiana 28, narrow roads, and drifting as compounding factors while promising two large trucks and payloader per area. Commissioners plan to seek funds after two weeks of county council deliberations.

A compact meditation contrasts lofty imagination with neurotic fixation. It cites Shakespeare Wagner Michelangelo as embodiments of genius and warns that anxiety can trap imagination in reverse gear. Biblical verses offer guidance toward neutral and first gear.

Union mines idle as safety committees lag reopening
Union leaders warn safety committees are a prerequisite for reopening but lack of enforcement leaves miners idle. Most mines reported no workers on the first day, with only a few showing for limited maintenance crews. In Key stone West Virginia 30 of 130 showed up at 8 am, while Pittsburgh and Midway Coal Co. had a 30-man maintenance crew. Amsterdam Missouri faced weather damage delaying mining, and picketing was largely absent due to the back to work order.
