Mason Dixon Line Resurveyed For Modern Boundaries
The Mason and Dixon line, drawn in 1761 65 to settle a family feud between the Calverts and Penns, was remeasured to resolve coastal land titles and jurisdiction. A granite monument unveiling marked the project’s end, with 35 miles of Maryland Delaware boundary and the Maryland Pennsylvania line reestablished and read as highly accurate given the era’s equipment.
