Local Students Win Top Posts At Hoosier Boy's State
Tom Alexander of Anderson High School was elected state clerk of the high courts and Jim Heiman of Pendleton Heights High School was elected secretary of state at the 39th Hoosier Boy's State at Indiana State University Terre Haute. The event, sponsored by the American Legion, teaches Indiana government through a mock system with Nationalists and Federalists. Eleven Madison County youths attended, with Alexander and Heiman among the top 9 state offices and several others serving as representatives or in local leadership roles. Meeting people and the honor of election highlighted the week for the students.
