Sikes Jamieson Share Early Lead In Windy West Open
In Northbrook Illinois Jim Sikes and Jamieson shared the first round lead at the $150000 Western Open after a brutal day at Sunset Ridge. Sikes recovered from a six-hole stretch of bad holes with five straight birdies and a late 40-foot birdie at 13 while Jamieson sparked a late surge including an eagle on the fourth and a 18-foot birdie at the fifth hole. Weiskopf Irwin and Oppermann were one stroke back at 69 as gusting winds and chill winds tested the field. Other notables struggled with temperatures in the mid 50s and winds up to 35 mph.
