6 Billion Cut Seen Without Welfare Slash
Washington (UPI) Wilbur Mills, chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, outlined a $4 billion cut in education or welfare programs as part of a tax economy package. The House vote was set for Thursday after debate, with Mills seeking clearance for the bill and farm leaders pushing a farm bill to gain votes for the tax package. The farm bill would extend major price support programs for one year.
