Disregarding Signal Blamed For Wreck
The ICC found a February collision at Frankfort Indiana between a Pennsylvania Railroad passenger train and a Nickel Plate freight was caused by the passenger train failing to obey a stop signal. Fifty two injured as locomotives collided at a crossing with both engineers reading the signal as proceed. The Nickel Plate freight had right of way and the passenger train moved against a stop light. The ICC urged changes to the Frankfort switch layout to allow a time lag between signal changes to prevent future mishaps.
