Depot Work Set to Demolish Old Pennsylvania Depot
The old Pennsylvania Railroad depot on Fletcher Street, bought by the Anderson Library earlier this year, should be torn down by July 4. Library director Davi Bucave told the library board Thursday night. A one-day extension on demolition was granted for the fire damaged structure, with work not to begin until 30 days have passed. The board approved offering one or both elevators in the JC Penney building to the Community Acting Council for use in the Central Avenue School building. The elevators, still relatively new, could be scrapped if unused.
