Indiana officials review coercion allegations that Republicans pressed state employees to donate to the GOP. A hearing was scheduled after a two month delay due to Ethics Commission chair Harry Ice’s illness, with Jerri Bain of the State Employees Association claiming violations of ethics codes and potential federal and state law. The GOP says the program is voluntary and aimed at reforming past practices, with contributions framed as 1 percent of gross pay under a new State Employee Contribution System.
