No Cadillacs For Persons On Welfare
INDIANAPOLIS AP The Indiana State Welfare Board voted to withhold welfare payments from people owning cars valued over 1200 dollars. The regulation, approved 5-1, gives Welfare Director Wayne A Stanton authority to judge if property is essential or should be sold to qualify for aid. Stanton said about 400 of 200000 cases may be affected and that luxury items such as boats color TV and high price consoles could come under screening. He noted no objection to black and white TV and argued the crackdown on chiselers will aid the truly needy.
