Wilson Signals Budget Strains in Defense Drive
Defense Secretary Wilson told reporters at Quantico that budget limits and rising costs may force manpower cuts and slower weapons modernization. He said no elastic budget exists to cover price hikes and pledged to brief President Eisenhower, as the arms program and manpower plans come under review. The gathering opened with the fifth annual meeting of civilian and military leaders and included about 75 officials.
