Indiana Guardsman cited for heroism in 1954 Tipton blaze
Private First Class Xen Small of Battery B 150th Field Artillery Battalion, Indiana National Guard, awarded the Indiana Distinguished Service Cross for heroism not involving direct combat. On December 28, 1954, he entered a burning home near Tipton, woke a father and six children, and rescued five children and aided the father and sixth child. Credits accepted from Anderson College.
