Lightning Hits Navy Plane Near Washington
A Navy C84 transport struck by lightning twice during a regular shuttle flight from Glenview Illinois to near Anacostia Naval Air Station. Pilot George Warvey of East Aryton Illinois landed safely with 27 passengers after a second bolt damaged the left wing and knocked off an aileron. He noted radios remained operable and the first strike occurred over West Virginia at about 20 000 feet.

Former Elwood Resident Dies
Former Elwood resident Floyd Lamb, 2, died in Smith Esteb Hospital at Richmond after more than four years illness. Funeral at Jones and Placke funeral home in Richmond at 3:30 p.m. Friday. Burial in Elkhorn Cemetery near Richmond. Survived by widow Mary and sister Marie White, Tichewond. Lamb was reared here and worked at the Elwood tinplate plant. He had lived in Richmond many years.
