County council debates juvenile funding and facility plans
The council discussed funding gaps for 24 juveniles at the boys' school with only three supported by parents. Proposals include using Brannenberg Children's Home as a girls' group home and remodeling the director's residence. Indiana officials already approved $50,100 for a year, while balance concerns delay final approval. County auditors note a possible $75,000 windfall, and a $5,000 request for venue changes was denied amid broader legal fees anticipated between $10,000 and $20,000.

City Appeals Insurance Premium Case in Indiana Court
The city filed a court record with the Indiana Court of Appeals on Monday seeking to overturn a December ruling by Special Judge Wesley Rathill Jr. that would reinstate the employee insurance premium schedule effective January 1, 1976. About 400 city workers represented by three unions challenge a 43.5 percent premium increase and the automatic annual renewal of the firefighters contract. The city has 30 days to file a brief outlining appeal bases as the long-running dispute continues.
