To Each His Own in Interstate Commerce Policy
The piece argues U S policy favors freer global trade while states in the United States sustain protectionist taxes and rules. It cites Arkansas Florida Georgia and other states enacting in state taxes on out of state goods, harming inter-state commerce and raising prices. It notes a 1968 House bill pushed by Rep Celler and Rodina to curb state taxation against small out of state firms, but the measure died in the Senate. The author urges freeing commerce across state lines as weather-like deterrence by borders should not apply.
