Burglary Hits Local Firms Net $1500 From Safe
Det. Maj. Robert Estes reports a break in at Childes Petroleum Inc. at 2107 St. Charles St. thieves pried open a 1,000 pound safe and stole about $1500 in cash and several checks after entry via torn siding. A separate burglary at George's Market 2345 Broadway yielded about $200 in cash. A microphone and card were stolen from the 5th Union Local 663 at 2840 Madison Ave. after a rock window entry.
