Rebirth Then Death of POW Brudno on His 33rd Birthday
Four months after being freed from a North Vietnamese prison, Force Capt. Edward Alan Brudno was found dead at a neighbor's home in Harrison New York on his 33rd birthday. A note in French stated life held no meaning and a bag over his head was not lethal, with sleeping pills found nearby awaiting toxicology results. His wife Deborah, remaining in Massachusetts, said he had been under psychiatric care since return, and a mother in law described him as depressed and contemplating death for some time.

Cox asks halt to Watergate hearings shows mixed Senate response
Special prosecutor Archibald Cox urged suspension of televised Watergate hearings. Four of seven senators rejected the bid, arguing the delay would impede truth and risk escape of guilty parties. Cox warned continued hearings could hinder investigations, while Ervin and others pressed for rapid disclosure. The White House said logs of conversations with John Dean would not be turned over.
