Richmond Jail Escapee Captured in Dayton
Raymond E. Evans, 44, a Richmond Indiana escapee from the Indiana Reformatory robbery sentence, knocked down a jail turnkey and fled through an eight inch gap into Dayton's lobby before being recaptured on Dayton's West Side. His mother and family tried to stop him. Evans is the first inmate to escape the so called proof jail. He faces return to serve 10 to 25 years.
