James L Cooper acquitted of murdering his estranged wife Amelie Woolfolk Cooper celebrated with a party at his French Quarter restaurant that continued into Friday. Elwood Howard B. Tompkins aged 66 of 1326 S D St Elwood died at home Friday night at 9 15 following a heart attack. He was born January 22 1888 in Goldsmith and married Faye Hook August 8 1911. A retired Nickel Plate Railroad employee he served as local agent for Ohio Farmers Insurance. He was a member of First Baptist Church Elwood Masonic Lodge Mason Chapter and Scottish Rite. Survived by widow three daughters six grandchildren one sister and other relatives. He had just returned from Cleveland where he attended his sister Lela Childes funeral.
