Jury finds no neglect in Vorhies death at Virginia Tech
A special grand jury concluded there was no wrongdoing or neglect by Virginia Tech staff or officials in the 18 year old fullback Bob Vorhies death. It found no basis to tie his death to exercise or punishment drills after practice on Nov 21. The body was found in his dorm room on the Tech campus in Blacksburg following a day of punishment for alleged misbehavior. The seven page report counts 35 witnesses and reviewed security health and medical examiner records. Jerome Vorhies voiced disappointment and discussed seeking a review by the state attorney general.
