Snow Removal Budget Mostly Spent in Indiana Winter
Indiana has spent over one third of its $6 million snow removal budget for state highways after December costs reached $2 million. State Highway Commission director Roger F. Marsh notes heavy equipment and salt use, warning any excess would cut into other highway maintenance. He cites forecasts of more snow and a need for $97 million yearly to keep up with road repairs, as last winter saw about $7 million spent.
