Ford proposes $15 billion cut in personal income taxes

President Ford outlines a plan for a $15 billion tax cut to be discussed with Rep. Al Ullman chair of the Ways and Means Committee. Administration sources say the move would deliver about $70 per American in 1974 and pave the way for an early tax relief package pending final details.

Tornado Watch Covers Much of Indiana State Regions

A statewide tornado watch extended to 7 p.m. Friday including Anderson and Madison County while a reported tornado near Shelbyville caused minor damage to four homes and two sheds with no injuries. Red Cross and Civil Defense prepared volunteers and alert levels in case of further danger as further tornado activity occurred in Gibson and Pike counties with damaged property in Evansville area.

Exposure leads to death of escapee in Indiana ditch

Deputy Coroner says Eddie B. Boyd twenty seven died of exposure after escaping from a reformatory last November. Snow and cold helped preserve him. Police identified the inmate in prison garb found face down in a roadside puddle near Interstate 69 and Ind 9.

Suit Filed Against Sheriff Over Inmate Death

A $600000 damage suit was filed Friday in U S District Court for Ardine Jones of South Bend against Sheriff John Gunter. The suit follows the death of her son Arthur Rubin Jones 22 in a Madison County jail solitary confinement cell May 9. Jones had been placed in semisolitary confinement April 22 after transfer from Indiana Reformatory Pendleton for disciplinary action. Police say he attacked a reformatory employee and he was sentenced from St Joseph County October 6 1972 for possession of stolen property. He was admitted November 27 1972.

Salvation Army reports holiday fund reaches county need

The Salvation Army and Christmas Clearing House report 6580 recipients received 29572 dollars in toys food clothing and fuel aid. Over 1100 families and more than 500 elderly persons benefited as Capt. Donald Hickey notes local donor generosity and that funds come from local gifts not United Fund. A December 17 theft at the Citadel cost 800 dollars but 300 in checks were later returned.
