Two Elwood men held as Jan 3 rape suspects
Two Elwood men, identified as 25 year old Irvin Cardwell and 23 year old David Peters, were arrested on rape affidavits and listed as defendants in circuit court. The investigation began after a 22 year old Elwood woman reported an attack following a party prior to an official welcome to the pair by local officials.

Four others hurt in two separate accidents as slick streets and Friday snow flurries fuel hazardous driving. Albert Broadnax 53 of 1426 Madison Ave suffered a broken jaw fractured right arm and multiple ribs after a car struck him on Madison Ave near 1531. He was treated at St Johns Hospital and remained listed serious. The driver Judy Ann Fogt 19 of 1022 Alexandria Pike said she pulled in south on Madison.

Two youths held in burglary probe
Two youths, 18 and 16, were taken into custody by local police yesterday in connection with a burglary at Charles Treadnax’s home on Locust Street. A gun was reported involved. The 18 year old, Robert William Davis of 734 West Street, was charged with investigation of burglary and appeared in Madison County. The 16 year old remains at the Juvenile Center. Authorities say he is linked to three other recent burglaries, including Wig Wam Sales on West Street and a factory shoe outlet on Pendleton Avenue.

Ten Die In Southeast Airlines Jet Crash In Tennessee
