A robin was seen Thursday in an apple tree near Fred Detrick's property in Perkinsville. The redbreast chirped merrily as observer Fred Detrick reported the sighting.

City Plumbing Board Holds Session and Examinations

The Anderson Board of Plumbers Examiners met at the City Board of Health offices and gave five applicants plumbing license examinations. The meeting, led by Everett Stottlemeyer and Syl McCarel, also discussed amendments to the city plumbing code. Regular monthly sessions continue on the last Wednesday each month. Also noted is a separate report of a man attempting suicide at the Gray Hotel and the death of Mrs. George Turner in McKeesport, Pa.

Blue Cross Seeks 15 Percent Rate Increase in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS Blue Cross hospitalization insurance rates would rise about 15 percent if the State Insurance Department approves a new schedule filed Thursday. The increase would affect about 1 million Indiana policyholders and stems from rising hospitalization costs. Insurance Commissioner Alden C Palmer said the new rates would likely be approved. Blue Cross Executive Director Guy Spring said the firm had net losses last year despite prior rate increases. The proposed rise would cost families about 1.50 more monthly and individuals about 50 cents.

Police Officer Recovers Stolen Auto

Police Lt. Fred Richardson spotted a 1953 stolen car in Belmont Addition at 29th and Fountain Sts. The vehicle, stolen from Guide Lamp parking lot at 11:20 p.m. last Monday, matched Virgil Gobin's car at 133 W. 3rd St. Officers checked for fingerprints and evidence leading to an arrest.

Cottage Cafe Patron Treated After Self Harm Attempt

A patron at the Cottage Cafe slashed his wrists and was transported by an emergency vehicle to St. John's Hospital in the City. He was later released.
