Ball State ROTC Promotions Reported for Two Students
Two Ball State University cadets Steven Co Stahl and Raleigh Wagner receive ROTC promotions at Ball State. The list includes 42 cadets with a pledge class of Arnold Air Society and two Honor Guards. Father and Son Speaker Woody Moore Named for Banquet
South Side Junior High physical education and health instructor Woody Moore will speak at the Second Methodist Church Father and Son Banquet sponsored by the Women’s Society for Christian Service. He played quarterback for Indiana University in 1961 62 and earned MVP and L G Balfour Award honors. He lives at 2836 Meridian St with his wife and two daughters.

Tour of General Assembly Planned by Women Voters
The League of Women Voters schedules a go see bus tour to the Indiana General Assembly for Tuesday next. The trip is organized by Mrs Thomas R McMahan and includes League members two government students from area high schools and other interested women. Observers attend the Chamber of Commerce legislative luncheon each Saturday to hear bills affecting Anderson and meet legislators when possible. Discussion unit meetings on March 1 2 and 3 will study bills of League interest. Those wishing to join may contact Mrs George Surbaugh or board the bus at the west end of the 8th Street bridge city parking lot Tuesday at 8 30 am. return to Anderson about 5 pm.

Edith Wilburn Dies at 64 in Elwood
Edith M. Wilburn 64 of 1918 North F Street Elwood died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Madison County on April 16 1901 she lived in the area all her life and worked at Stevens Spring Co. She married Dave Wilburn in 1922 he died in 1945. Survivors include daughter Joan Dailey Kokomo stepdaughter Mary Catherine Rector Anderson sister Ethel Rittenhouse Elwood brothers Harley Hosier Kokomo Harold Hosier Anderson and two grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are with Robert L. Jackley Funeral Home.

Mrs Hart of St John s Hospital reports two boys Tony Riley eight and Gregg Riley four were hospitalized last night after eating ham left unrefrigerated. Keith Riley father and Caroline mother were treated or examined as details emerge. Relatives and friends from New Castle also fell ill in Henry County with similar symptoms.

Employment Trends in Anderson Area Firms Mid January
Employment in nineteen area establishments rose 1.3 percent year over year with 25 783 workers in mid January up from 24 483. Manufacturing gains totaled 1 242 workers led by electrical machinery and equipment though offset by losses in stone clay glass and non electrical sectors. Transportation equipment layoffs reduced about 170 workers. Nonmanufacturing sectors showed broad increases, with medical services public utilities retail and personal services rising. Employers anticipate adding 341 workers in the next 60 days with no major layoffs expected.
