The Madison County Cancer Society Dressing Unit will convene next Thursday at 1 30 p m in the Cancer Society office. Members plan to discuss dressing supplies and loan cupboard use for patients as they face ongoing hardships.
The Indiana Alcoholic Beverage Commission suspended nine tavern permits in Indianapolis and nearby for fixed drinks and gambling. Five more suspensions and two revocations followed for other liquor law violations effective February. United Auto Workers Union Local 662 in Anderson had seven day suspension for gambling and Hillside Tavern in Anderson had its permit revoked for false ownership.

The Mother and Daughter Organization of the Church of the Brethren met in church parlors with Valentine decorations. Officers for 1956 57 were elected led by Maxine McDwain as President and Jacqueline Burnett as Vice President.

Judge Bernard M. Decker awarded $44,525 to Mrs. Jane Siskind after iron worker Robert Sorensen recovered the tin box money during gas station construction. Survived by husband James three sons Donald and George G Leighton both of Elkhart and Richard C Leighton Chesterfield three grandchildren one sister Vera Shroyer Anderson and one brother John J Jones Rt 1 Anderson. Funeral services Sunday 2 p m at Brown and Butz Funeral Home conducted by Elder A G Boyer of the Seventh Day Adventist Church burial Menden Cemetery south of Pendleton.
