Groce Robbery Trial Begins In Madison Court
Willie Charles Groce age 23 of Anderson appeared in Judge Carl T. Smiths Madison Circuit Court as the first day of his robbery trial began. He is charged with entering a home on Nichol Ave Sept 1 1966 while resident absent and a companion Grace is charged with cutting the resident with a bread knife during the getaway and stealing a purse containing 50 dollars. Jury voir dire dominated the morning with opening statements by defense and prosecution to follow. If convicted Groce faces life. He pled not guilty to the charge on Sept 19.
