Senator Carl Vinson of Georgia urged Congress to approve a government backed plan to insure dependents of servicemen. He said the House Armed Services Committee hopes to present the measure in the upcoming session to ease the burden on military physicians and provide care in civilian hospitals with cost sharing for insured and uninsured dependents. The Defense Department proposed coverage with premiums and cost sharing, estimating about 900,000 of 2.2 million dependents could be insured.
