Nixon Responds To Heating Fuel Pressure Increase
President Nixon announced an oil import adjustment to raise daily imports by about 100,000 barrels from Canada and other sources. The plan aims to stabilize prices while expanding supply for heating fuel across Western and Eastern regions, with most growth west of the Rockies. Johnson’s administration notes the move seeks a hemispheric petroleum policy to prevent price shocks and ensure nonrenewable resource stability.
