US Asks China To Accept Fishermen Seized By Mistake
The United States urged China to accept the return of fishermen seized off Tonkin during a storm or misidentification. Officials said 48 Chinese fishermen, aged 17 to 70, were taken aboard Vietnamese coast guard ships and then moved toward Warsaw for instructions on repatriation. The Polish capital hosts the contact channel with Beijing for possible arrangements.

Supreme Court upholds 21 year sentence in call girl case
In Indianapolis the Indiana Supreme Court via a trading judge affirmed the 21 year term for a man convicted after a witness testimony from a 18 to 25 year old call girl who had sexual relations with him. The majority held the defense motion for a psychiatric examination of the girl came too late and that the record supported the sentence despite defense objections about probation officer influence and age disputes. Justice Jackson dissented, criticizing the use of the probation report to determine maximum penalties and urging closer scrutiny of the witness's competency and the timing of the examination.
