Bernard Morris 104 Celebrates Birthday in New York

Bernard Morris marked his 104th birthday in New York with a large cake a bottle of scotch and a game of gin rummy. He lives at the Hebrew Home for the Aged Riverdale Bronx entered there Jan 6 1955. Morris ran a Bushwick clothing shop for 50 years retiring three decades ago. He attends religious services three times daily.

The Board of Public Works approved an electric promotion plan and a truck contract for the City Street Department. Jobless Claims Drop in Anderson for November

Initial unemployment claims in Anderson numbered 314 in November, the lowest for that month since 1955, down 48 from October. Chesterfield Youth Shot While Hunting

A Chesterfield youth, Robert Crull, 16, was shot in the left thigh by a dropped shotgun near his home east of Chesterfield. The incident occurred Saturday around 1 p.m. and Crull was listed in satisfactory condition Monday at St. John’s Hospital. His cousin Jimmy Tucker, 15, dropped the double-barrel shotgun during a hunting mishap, according to the Madison County Sheriff's Department.

Clarence Shipley announced the Shipley Nursing Home at 2417 Pearl Street will close July 1 after Indiana Health Facilities Council named nine homes as substandard. The Hamilton Rest Home in Noblesville was also among those affected with licenses renewed on July 1.

An Indiana State Reformatory inmate imprisoned since 1953 on a Marion County sentence petitions Madison Circuit Court for a writ of habeas corpus and release. He cites his counsel William C.
