Mrs Chesley Thomas and Mrs Mies entertained 18 Art Circle members at a luncheon as Christmas decor brightened the home. Beta Alpha of Tri Kappa discussed Meals on Wheels with volunteers E H Bailey Hollis Deahyne Broyles and Stanley Graham. New officers for the Chamber of Commerce and Lions Club noted with Jan 1 and Jan 15 gatherings planned.
Elwood City Court disposed of several cases Tuesday afternoon with many defendants pleading not guilty or having charges reduced. Justice Riley presided over the session with trials set for January 8 and February 8, including offenses from speeding to false registration and no license.
Pendleton Heights High School led the county crops judging contest with Sam Ellingwood Steve Lenz and Jim Keesling taking first through third. Coaching by Gary Wilson and Riffey Brent Cook Tim Fred Wolf, and a second place team from Pendleton followed. Contest evaluated weed and crop identification, plant seeds, grain grid, plant samples, disease factors, and market information to award 400 points possible for the final score.
Medicare claims for services from October 1 1971 to September 30 1972 must be sent by December 31 1973 per Herman E Landes district manager of the Anderson Social Security Office. Claims for 1973 can be paid in 1974 but not for services prior to October 1 1972. Enrollees should obtain itemized statements from providers detailing illness or injury, service type, dates, charges, patient name, and doctor names.
