Blaze draws officials and crowd to city fire scene

Firemen battled a blaze as Sheriff Joe L. Brogdon deputies and state troopers assisted. A large crowd gathered as investigators determined whether the fire was accidental or caused by lightning or spontaneous combustion.

Edgewood Board Approves Plans For New Sewer

The Edgewood Town Board unanimously approved a $450,000 sewer system and disposal plant project. Plans were approved last week by the Indiana Stream Pollution Control Board and a public meeting was announced for late January to explain details.

Farmers Union Elects Officers at Madison County Meeting

The Madison County Farmers Union elected new officers Tuesday night in Frankton. James L. Swin­der of Alexandria was named president, John Wilson of Elwood as vice president, and Mrs. Elizabeth Windsor of Elwood as secretary-treasurer. The group set plans for a farm labor dinner January 18 at the YMCA with speaker Leon Keyserling of Washington, D C. A turkey and ham supper in January was also planned. Clem Millspaugh retired as president and Russell Hudson retired as county vice president.

State Chamber Poll Lists Indiana Fast Time Support

Indiana Chamber of Commerce released a poll showing 21 central and eastern cities favor fast time year round and nine favor fast time in summer. Flood forecasts and weekend rainfall totals across Indiana

Streams rise from Edwardsport to Elliston with forecasts for crests well above flood stage. Weathermen expect a break Thursday though more rain is likely through Friday to Sunday. Totals range from one to two inches in many areas with three-tenths to six tenths of an inch weekend average and the lower White and Wabash rivers noted for crest levels.
