Eugene Foster of Alex Dies

Eugene Clif ford Foster 82 of Alexandria died Friday afternoon at Bottle Nursing Home Elwood after a long illness. A lifelong Methodist, he retired from R Leeson Company and later ran Foster's Garden. Survived by Luella widow three daughters and service details pending.

Eisenhower Sees White House Colleagues Amid Routine

Christmas events schedule for local clubs and groups

Postal rush prep with extended Sunday hours planned

1120 extra clerks and carriers will be on duty today to handle the peak postal rush expected Monday. The post office will stay open until noon and the station and parcel post window will operate part of the afternoon. Station 4 at Baker's Hardware will be open Sunday with deliveries planned, but windows will not be open and no night hours are planned for post office windows.

Minnie Ross Dits 51 of 300 W 6th St died yesterday at St Johns Hospital after a two day illness. A charter member of East Lynn Christian Church since 1900 she lived 63 years and was widow of James M Rose. NATO to Defend German Prisoners Returned from Russia

Some 702 German prisoners of war arrived at Camp Friedland this week, the first group to return to West Germany since the Soviet Union halted prisoner repatriation. The prisoners said they were stopped near Moscow in October and informed that Chancellor Adenauer had failed to meet obligations. Russia had released 3,863 POWs and 1,973 civilians of the 9,626 promised in exchange for West Germany’s pledge to establish relations with the Soviet Union.

Suspect tied to multiple burglaries in Indiana and near Indy

Police say the suspect admitted two armed holdups near Indianapolis and burglaries at drive in restaurants and service stations over five years. He faces second degree burglary charges in Henry and Madison counties and awaits trial on armed robbery in Indiana. Burglaries Reported Across Tipton County Area

Police said arrests Friday tied to three burglaries in Lapel and incidents at Elwood Country Club, a drive in near Frankfort, a Tetersburg service station, and Aroma grocery. Loot included power tools, a shotgun, candy, and other merchandise. Interrogation continued last night with more details expected. A former Anderson man in New Castle led to clearing four local burglaries and many others in Indianapolis and Middletown areas.
