Churches Act To Improve Films Output By Louis Cassels
Protestant and Catholic groups cooperated last week to boost moral content in American cinema. The National Council of Churches and Catholic Legion of Decency praised films that uphold family values and artistic integrity while a commission urged better production and distribution of suitable movies. The Legion noted only 51 of 270 films rated in the past year met its standards, the lowest share in three decades.

The work also yields design principles for sturdier valve assemblies and is guiding industry testing labs.
