Supreme Court to Arbitrate Gun Inspection Policy

The Supreme Court agreed to review a Denver federal ruling that gun shop inspections by Internal Revenue Service agents without warrants violate the Fourth Amendment. The decision could affect enforcement of the 1968 Gun Control Act as the government argues inspections are essential with 138,000 licensed dealers and fewer than 1,500 inspectors. The Court also took up SDS chapter recognition and a medication case over religious objections, preserving lower-court actions on a parochial school busing ruling and a pollution case.
