Sacred Mexaltitan Island Reveals Ancient Sacred City
From the air Mexaltitan looks like a floating cartwheel in the river delta. Anthropologists see a once sacred Olmec Toltec and Nahua settlement with a circular street plan. The island hosts 2,500 residents living in adobe homes and relying on fishing, oysters, shrimp, tobacco and maize. June 29 marks the fiesta of St. Peter and St. Paul when couples wed by canoe Mass.

Impassable Roads No Handicap by Bill Harris
Don and Mrs. Anderson, both 70, dragged a 20 foot trailer 6537 miles from Richland to Hyder Alaska and Watson Lake along the Alaska Highway and Old Telegraph Trail. They faced mud, rough rails, limited roads, six flat tires and a bent flywheel but persevered with a heavy winch and occasional D9 pulling through soft ground.
