No Teeth For Painless Dentist In Vietnam War
Dr Tim O Sullivan from Worcester Mass chose Air Force pilot training over dentistry despite being a dentist. He earned his wings in 1970 and joined the 8th Special Operations Squadron in Vietnam to fly high performance jets. Known as Painless, he faced jokes about dentistry while serving bombing missions over Cambodia and Vietnam. He says dentistry was too sedate and wanted excitement. He is the oldest first lieutenant in his unit and remains proud of his service.
