Haldeman Ordered Removal Of Papers In Watergate Probe
A former White House aide testified that Haldeman directed removal of notes and files related to a June 17 1972 meeting and a gap in the Watergate tapes. The aide named documents locations and a combination, while Rose Mary Woods admitted erasing about four and a half minutes of the June 20 1972 tape, prompting Haldeman’s resignation days later. The court heard that tape erasures were discussed before public disclosure and involved top Nixon aides and investigators.
