Memorial Service for Philip B. O'Neill Held by Madison County Bar

The Madison County Bar Association held a memorial service in Madison Circuit Court for Philip B. O'Neill longtime Anderson attorney and former association president. A memorial resolution was adopted for the deceased and will be filed in the county court record. Last rites are set for 9 a.m. today at St Mary's Church.

Mrs Loudenback Celebrates Her eighty fifth Birthday

Mrs Ida Loudenback marked her 85th birthday with a gathering hosted by Mr and Mrs Ernest Bushy on their rural route. Attendees included numerous Loudenback relatives and friends from Indianapolis and nearby towns.

Nudist camp incident leads to arrests and escapes

Police investigated a drugged outshooting and abduction case in Muncie involving Victor Westlie and a suspect connected to Zapf. Westlie reported a shotgun beating during a car ride to work with the suspect forcing him from the auto. The suspect was arrested near Plant 7 as officers pursued the group.

Five Killed In County Truck Crash And Juvenile Arrests

State police report a truck crash that killed Anthony Terwiske 21 of Ireland Dubois County after his car struck the rear of a stopped truck near Jasper. In Charlestown a two year old girl Virginia Grace was killed by a neighbor’s backing car. A Juvenile Division report lists 48 arrests for the month 43 boys 5 girls led by 14 larceny 15 incorrigibles six burglary and 30 youths released to parents six on probation five given suspended sentences three jailed two sent to Indiana Boys School and one sent to the CWWU Home.

County Council Considers Road Funds and Courthouse Plans

The report shows 485 arrests with 76 calls for resisted, 1 for open doors or windows. Of dispositions 104 were intoxication guilty, 11 disorderly conduct, five juvenile delinquency. Traffic dispositions: 38 speeding, 15 reckless driving, five DUI, five disregarding signals. Total dispositions tally 332 few.

Mark Brosier Led Fire Chiefs Program In Indiana

Mark Brosier established a broad fire prevention program and was active in Kiwanis Club charity for crippled children. A Disciples of Christ member, he attended Central Christian Church in Anderson and Christian Church in Ames. He planned to speak August 27 at the Indiana Association of Fire Chiefs convention, with a banquet at the Elks Home. Survivors include widow Helen Cook Brosier, three children Janet, Robert, and James, six grandchildren, sister Mrs W Anderson, and brother Myron J Brosier.

W E Carter longtime civic leader dies after long illness

W E Carter a onetime clothing retailer and civic figure in Anderson died after two years of illness. He founded Carter Clothing Company after moving from Alexandria and later owned the Meridian Street building housing a Walgreens. He served as Board of Works chairman under C D Ro truck and directed golf course greens at Anderson Country Club for over 20 years. Surviving are his wife Ella, daughter Mrs John Dages and two grandsons. Funeral arrangements are at Waltz and Hiday with services Saturday at 10 am.

Hallie Stinson 60 of Markleville died Thursday at St John’s Hospital after a short illness. The body lies at Valurus C Rector Funeral Home Markleville. Funeral Sunday 2 p.m. at Mt Zion Lutheran Church New Columbus. Burial Huntsville Cemetery. Survived by husband Hutch, daughter Gertrude Ala Elrod, son James A. Stinson, six grandchildren. One daughter predeceased in 1934.

Bank plans new branch site after delay from FDIC probe

Anderson Bank had been granted approval by the Indiana State Department of Financial Institutions after a public hearing on May 25. Further action was delayed pending the FDIC investigation outcome. A spokesman said the firm will immediately seek a site and begin work to establish the branch in the community.
