Democrats Say Rally Halted in Gary Indiana

In Gary Indiana an insurgent Democratic group the Woodlawn Community Association says sheriff deputies disrupted its rally and bingo event moved to the home of president Glenn Briesacher Iron worker aged 37. Briesacher recounts deputies warned the tavern owner Otto Schregel you're finished with the sheriff's department and returned his $50 ticket money for a dinner honoring retiring Sheriff Peter Mandich. Mandich retains Lake County Democratic support despite an income tax evasion conspiracy trial. About 150 suburban residents heard speeches by antiincumbent candidates Thursday night.

Sixty five Latin students from Anderson High and nearby junior high schools travel to Purdue University for the Indiana Junior Classical League Sizer conference. Madison County council approves emergency requests and bridge funds

Madison County council approved a 40000 transfer from the cumulative bridge fund for preliminary work on three new county bridges and 15775 for payment of invoices. They budgeted 21000 for highway department needs, plus 26000 for Washington Street bridge, 10000 for Bronnenberg and 10000 for Moonville Road bridges. The body also set aside funds for fire protection equipment and observer invites for the county election.

Fortville Architect Gerald Gray Dies at 58

FORTVILLE Gerald Gray 58 of 334 Staat St. Fortville died unexpectedly early Friday at home. He was an architect and an examiner for the Federal Housing Administration. He had lived in Fortville about a year. The funeral arrangements were announced by the Paul C. Cory Funeral Home. The body was moved to Schaffner-Center Funeral Home in Marion for services Monday in Marion.
