District to consider boundary changes
Orange Unified School District trustees heard a late item on May 22 proposing boundary changes for elementary and middle schools to end multi track calendars at five of seven year round sites. Denise Bittel noted the Facilities Advisory Committee will study projections and bring recommendations for June 5 to balance enrollments across elementary schools. The meeting also included news of 27 positions cut by the school board.

City forecasts modest gains for 2003 04 budget
Anaheim city officials say the 2003-04 budget would be 1.097 billion dollars, a 3.2 percent drop from the current year, with moderate growth anticipated. The plan calls for 3 percent cuts across departments, a further 2 percent in police and fire, and about 5.8 million dollars in one-time funds from reserves to cover a projected 4.4 million shortfall amid weaker bed taxes and rising costs.
