Anaheim will buy power from the Westlands Solar Park in Fresno and Kings counties, a 24 000 acre project projected to generate up to 5 000 megawatts. The city plans to power over 600 homes annually under a 25 year agreement, with council adjustments due to grid-connection delays.
Anaheim council chose Lucille Kring as mayor pro tem for 2015 after considering seniority. Councilman Jordan Brandman nominated by votes but urged a years served approach, noting Kring’s service since 2012 with prior terms 1998-2002 and 2006.
City staffers will assist as Anaheim joins 100 host cities for the July Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles. About 7,000 athletes and 3,000 coaches will participate. An Anaheim Host Team Committee will raise funds to cover costs, with only staff time borne by the city.

Presenters mostly from Anaheim with others from Orange County. Sessions run 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday monthly through November at 2415 Anaheim Blvd.
The city preps a recurring roster of recognitions for council display. For 2015, 101 items cover awareness weeks months holidays and honors for individuals. Highlights include Human Trafficking Awareness Day, National Athletic Training Month, and multiple heritage and awareness observances ending with Human Rights Day on December 10.
