City of Anaheim highlights 67 000 square feet of terminal space in Artic project figures.

ARTIC center in Anaheim moves toward opening next year

ARTIC, designed by Ernest Cirangle, advances through construction half finished as ETFE pillows will form the translucent roof. The 67000 square foot facility will have three levels with a large ground floor lobby, two ticketing banks, shops, a plaza with 13 bus bays, and a mezzanine concourse to Metrolink and Amtrak. City officials, led by Natalie Meeks, envision ARTIC as a regional transport hub linking hotels, eateries, offices, Angel Stadium, the Honda Center, and river trails with projected 10000 transit trips by opening.

ETFE panels to crown Anaheim ARTIC roof

Anaheim officials say the ARTIC hub will use ETFE plastic pillows instead of glass to cover about 200000 square feet of roof, delivering sunlight for passengers while reducing cooling costs. Architect Ernest Cirangle notes the diamond panels deflect sun and shift with light.

Safety manager blocks photo access at ARTIC tour

An Orange County Register photographer faced a request from Clark Construction safety manager Stuart Nakutin to review every picture showing his workers during a tour of the ARTIC site in Anaheim. The photographer and reporter were initially barred, then allowed to shoot with no workers present, but the policy against editors approving publication prevented content approval.
