Education Academy aids future teachers at Loara High School
Becky Long describes a program started in 2015 at Loara High School that lets high school students teach literacy during lunch four days a week. The Education Academy, the first of its kind in California, now enrolls 75 students and partners with CSU Fullerton YMCA Anaheim Public Library and Palm Lane Elementary. CSU Fullerton grants two college units per intern as Long guides college prep, helping many first generation college students. Mayor Daly and Superintendent Billings praise the program and the chamber of commerce for its role in supporting education and school bonds.
