The mayor W H Edwards has filed suit against the Democrat for libel seeking 10000 damages over published criticisms of city administration. Papers served Monday with trial set for July 14 1902. The Democrat vows to unearth corruption and continue reporting despite the suit.
Washington June 23 a motion in the senate to discharge the territories committee from the Omnibus territorial bill to admit Oklahoma New Mexico and Arizona as states was moved by Mr Quay though not acted upon. The session largely debated Indian Territory measures and authorized funds for Lawton Anadarko Hobart waterworks schools and court houses. The Tribune report notes a defamatory item about P P Shaw being unverified.
