Died of Cruelty Murder Charge in Webb City

Charles Wilson was arrested in Webb City Missouri charged with first degree murder in the death of a two year old girl belonging to Mrs Mary Lee. He allegedly whipped the child severely last Wednesday night and forced it to lie on a hard floor beneath a bed for hours. The neighbor found the baby too weak to cry and she died the following morning.

Democratic candidate for county attorney announces platform

A candidate for County Attorney declares intent to seek the office under the Democratic party. The platform calls for strict economy in county business, enforcement of all laws, vigorous prosecution of meritorious cases, refusal of frivolous actions, and protection of the innocent as well as punishment for the guilty. Labor leaders to speak at Ansdarko Court House

Luther Langston President of the State Federation of Labor C L Daugherty State Labor Commissioner and Hon M Grant Hamilton will address the public at the Court House Tuesday evening June 7 at 8 p m. They are touring the region to support workers and are met by large enthusiastic crowds. Women are especially invited to attend.

Entertain Old Friends Me and Mrs Spivey Host Kingston Guests

Mr Spivey and Mrs L M Spivey entertained Kingston Missouri friends yesterday. Guests included John A Canon now of Ham item Missouri and Mrs M C Canon of Chickashi Oklahoma. Spivey noted many Missouri friends visited and spoke well of Anadarko and Oklahoma in general and of Lee Spivey in particular.

Week End House Party At Suburban Home

Transfer of Ma Sonic Orphans

Sixty orphans from the old Masonic Home at Atoka were moved to the Darlington Home. They arrived at Elfteno and were welcomed by the EiKeno Masons and Ewatern Star, enjoyed a breakfast, and a city ride before settling into Mayynie Hall. Grand Master Muldrow and Atoka residents Mr. and Mrs. Lankford accompanied them.

At Guthrie Okla June 2 a meeting of union labor and taxpaying citizens at city hall discussed state questions for the June 11 election. Speakers opposed repealing article 9 section 9 urging the state corporation commission retain regulation over utilities. The event featured John Gobbie, Joseph Wisey, Frank Greer, W J Crawford, and T G Oothe among others.

Mrs Popejoy Recital Showcases School of Music Alumni

The Opera House audience enjoyed the Sixth Annual recital by Mrs. Eora Streight PopeJoy’s School of Music despite stormy weather. Many first time performers dazzled, two graduates Lulu Mae Gaspar and Weltha Mandell earned diplomas, and Miss Neva Denny impressed though ill. Mrs Popejoy will conduct the Music Department of Anadarko Cha Cha during Chautauqua week, backed by a decade of teaching success and formal training across multiple institutions. A larger class of graduates is expected next year.

Guthrie June 2 A second railway charter shows rivalry in westward projects from Oklahoma City with a Kansas Oklahoma and Panama Railway planned atop a route similar to yesterday’s. The Hines Construction Company of Oklahoma City received a charter to build the International and Great Southern Railway. Capital listed at 50,000 with directors P A Hines Ferdinand J Karaseck of Chicago and S C Classgow of Oklahoma City. A mortgage of 3 500 000 was filed.

Sulphur Oklahoma May 30 The mystery of Mrs Rona East of Wynnewood murder and E L Nelson death by self inflicted wounds at the Graham hotel remains unsolved. Mrs East a wealthy Indian widow formerly of Omaha and divorced wife of Dr East of Chickasha left a fortune and zinc lands while Nelson a bachelor had relatives in Dennison and Owensboro. Two letters to the coroner hint at funeral expenses but details are withheld.
